This year Moto X comes with major upgrades in the display, now it comes with a 5.7inch screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 but, sadly it’s a TFT LCD display and not an AMOLED display. Nevertheless, the display is sharp, vivid, saturated colors, bright display, good viewing angles and also good in sunlight.

Camera

Moto series isn’t popular for its camera but this time, Motorola decided to pack a massive 21MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.0 on the back while in the front it sports with 5MP wide angle lens. Surprisingly, they also add a flash with the front camera.

As far as the rear camera is concerned, it manages to take sharp and detailed with good color production. Low light performance is good, not as good as Galaxy S6 but better previous Moto X. It can shoot video in 4K, panorama, night mode etc.

When it comes to performance, its comes with a Snapdragon 808 instead of the popular 810, Adreno 418 GPU and a 3GB of ram. Good for gaming and multitasking. The only lag it shows sometimes is while directly unlocking via Moto display. This issue can be resolved with minor updates. It scores roughly about 52k on AnTuTu benchmark.

The phone is pretty great with few downsides, it has a unique design and nice build quality. Acceptable battery life performance, it can manage to last up to a day. Any heavy task like gaming will drain the battery faster. Though it comes with a Quick charge 2.0 technology with helps it to get fully charged in an hour and a half.

The Axon phone comes with 5.5inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2560×1440 and pixel density of 534ppi. Big bright display, accurate color reproduction, good contrast level with great viewing angles. It is a pleasure to watch in this display, even though it doesn’t AMOLED display it has great black levels.

Camera

One great thing about this phones is its camera, its comes with a 13MP sensor with an aperture of f/1.8. In addition to that, there is a 2Mp camera on the back to capture depth information. On the front, it comes with an 8MP sensor with a wide angle lens.

When it comes to performance it packs with an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor clocked at 2GHz. A massive 4GB of RAM with an Adreno 430 GPU. It’s know to have some overheating issue but multitasking performance is really smooth. Gaming on this phone should have no issue, the credit goes to software too as it doesn’t come with lots of bloatware.

Nextbit a startup by an ex-Google employee and others came up with a smartphone with deeply integrated cloud storage. It definitely stands out from the crowd, it has a unique minimal design and a flat rectangular shape unlike other phones in the market.

Battery

It comes with a 2680mAh battery and it really struggles to last a full day. Although the doze mode in Marshmallow should save some battery in standby mode but doze mode in this phone is very ineffective. It’s smart storage feature is to be blamed for bad battery life which kills the doze mode affect.

Display

Robin comes with a 5.2inch IPS display with a resolution of 1080p. The display on this phone is not great but pretty decent, although the display turns out to be good under sunlight.

Camera

The phone comes with a 13MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.2 on the back which is the same sensor used in Galaxy Note 3. On the front, it has a 5MP sensor. The cam reproduces quite vibrant pictures, low light performance is better but it doesn’t capture the sharpest picture as other phones out there. LG Nexus 5X

The Google’s  Nexus line has been very popular among Android lovers, what makes Nexus phone different from other phones is its Stock Android experience with no bloatware at all. And when it comes to Android updates, Nexus phones are always the first one to get the latest and greatest of Android. The Nexus 5X which is meant to be more affordable Nexus phone when compared to the Nexus 6p.

It comes with a hexacore Snapdragon 808 processor clocked at 1.82GHz. Coupled with an Adreno 418 GPU with just 2GB of RAM. Although, it handles the general task, multitasking, and gaming smoothly. As it comes with no bloatware and a pure Android experience with no signs of lag.

Conclusion

Nexus 5X is a great phone in this price range but there is few downside to consider. Firstly, it comes with a 2GB of RAM which is enough for the general task but you like to game a lot on your phone then this phone might not be future proof. Would be a decent phone for selfies. OnePlus 2

After the success of the first smartphone, the company decided to launch another great phone but with a different approach. The OnePlus 2 was announced through full VR presentation. But the phone wasn’t really able to keep up the hype.

The strong part of OnePlus 2 is its battery, it comes with a large 3300mAh battery. With moderate to intensive use, it can last up to a day, with light usage it can last for a day and a half or more. Although it supports USB Type-C it doesn’t really use it for fast charging abilities.

Though it doesn’t match up with current market standards when it comes to the display, it manages to have a great display. It has high brightness and color saturation and has great visibility under sunlight.

The phone comes with a 13MP sensor on the back with an aperture of f/2.0 coupled with laser auto-focus and dual LED flash. In addition to image stabilization, it comes with different modes like HDR, Panorama, Time Lapse, 4k recording and slow motion at 120fps in 720p. Decent picture quality with good saturation level. On the front, it has a 5MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.4 and records at 1080p.

Performance

It comes with an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor clocked at 1.8GHz coupled with Adreno 430 GPU. With a massive 4GB of RAM on the 64GB variant, the phone’s performance is quite a breeze. The gaming performance on this phone is great though it gets a bit warm on heavy load.

Conclusion

The OnePlus 2 packs lots of power with great battery life, if you are a gamer then go for it, but if NFC is important for you then it will disappoint you a bit. Although it doesn’t come with QHD, the display is quite decent for the hardware it comes with, if you are looking for a sharp display then this might not be an option for you. And no Cyanogen OS this time.

Apple iPhone 5S 16GB: This phone has a great design, a better processor and a good camera with Touch ID feature. You can get this phone for $230 from Amazon. If you really wanna have iPhone and experience iOS then go for this if the smaller screen size not an issue for you. I would like to have iPhone 5s as my secondary phone. You can even gift this phone to someone who wants a phone to make a call, surf net, use social media, general tasks and for light gaming.

BLU – Pure XR: This phone does have all the things an affordable smartphone should have at this price like high build quality, crisp display, good battery life and a fingerprint sensor. But there are so many better options available in the market for the same price.

LG G4: The G4 is a great phone of one of its kind with it leather back which is comfortable in hands. It has a great display and good camera performance and it comes with a removable battery. Although, the battery life if this phone is average and quality of the speaker is average.
